THIS

AMERICAN DIPLOMACY Buz Eddy
WHERE DID YOU
GO? “OUT!”
WHAT DID YOU
DO? “NOTHING!”
The most recent issue of this column
was dated September something 2007. An incident at WDC in Vancouver put me
off our game and I haven’t found much enthusiasm for playing it since. My
high tech data processing capacity resulted in the trashing of the NADF
rating data base, which took my loving Boeing engineer, Sharon, about two
days to restore, keying 8 data items for 1500 records. She is engineering the 787 and it has been
an adventure. The last event reported upon in these
pages was the 2007 Conquest in California. There were a few subsequent
reports sent to the chat lists but even those were spotty so let’s finish up
2007 first. 2007 TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT I actually don’t know if the event
used the full name this year. That title in years past referred to the fact
that is conducted by the Potomac Tea and Knife Society. This year’s
event attracted 41 players ranging from
British Columbia, Texas, Chicago, and New England. Still the majority of the
participants were local. The winner was Chris Mazza. Chris has
two Origins titles and a Dragonflight. win dating back to the 1990s. Andy Bartalone was second and Thom Comstock
was third. Thom has provided results
from the last five GenCons which will be NADF processed when we catch up a
few other matters. 2007 WHIPPING Hmmm, a
search of the archives shows no record. Certainly glad Laurent Joly is
posting results at his site. (NADF
processing and posting soon) The winner was Don Williams. Don and your writer
go way back to the postal dip days, and had a game with really creative press
exchanges The press competition became
more important than the game. Condy
Creek finished second and Chris Brand (British Columbia) was third. RATINGS There
appears to be one event remaining to be processed for 2007, and only WAC has
been processed for 2008. The 2007 year end ratings will go up as soon as they
are available, and we should be much closer to current next issue. |
