From February 16-18, 2001, the Association of Rocky Mountain Area Diplomacy Adversaries (ARMADA) held its second tournament. The success of the inaugural event had led to Denver being named host to the North American Championship, and so the second "Regatta" was also DipCon XXXIV, part of the longest-running Diplomacy tournament in the world. A frenzy of activity -- beginning with the preparation of the bid to host DipCon, presented at World DipCon X in Baltimore during the summer of 2000 -- led to the big event. With multiple spam attacks, Manus argued, bartered, and badgered sixty-six Diplomacy players from all around the world into attending. ARMADA members from all over the Rocky Mountain area were joined by players from Texas, California, the Pacific Northwest, New York City, Washington, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, Boston, Canada, and Scotland. Capably assisted by loyal ARMADA members Andrea Scully (Assistant Tournament Director), Dan Stamey (rule booklet printing and airport transportation), James Harman (transportation), and Steve Mills (on-site support), and despite Tournament Director Manus Hand fighting the last remnants of a two-week bout with pneumonia, which curtailed a lot of last-minute plans, the event went off without too many hitches, and a great time was had by all!
