Stamford Hall, University of Leicester

After 24 years at the University of Birmingham, ManorCon moved to Stamford Hall at the University of Leicester in 2007.

Leicester University offers us exactly the facilities we want - a main games hall where we can also eat meals, a number of smaller rooms which can be used for activities such as the Diplomacy Tournament, the Second Hand Games Sale, the Pop Quiz and the Treasure Hunt. A bar area. On-site accommodation.

The main accommodation block is directly behind the main hall, with en-suite accommodation about 50m walk from the hall.

Stamford Hall is situated just off the Ringroad around the South of Leicester at the junction with the A6. There is a major bus service which runs along the A6 between the Campus and the city centre. For those arriving by train, there is a direct train service to Leicester from London St Pancras, Birmingham, Peterborough, Cambridge, Sheffield, Leeds, Derby and Nottingham. Once at Leicester Station, the aforementioned bus service from the city centre to the campus has a stop at the Railway Station. For those who are flying in, East Midlands Airport have annouced that they will soon be introducing a bus service to Leicester city centre. For more details on transport, see the directions to ManorCon page.

The convention is 10 minutes walk from Oadby centre. Oadby is a suburban centre on the outskirts of Leicester, which has a collection of shops, restaurants, etc. There is also a large Asda between the convention and Oadby. If Oadby does not provide all the facilities you are looking for, then it is about 3 miles from the convention to Leicester City Centre.
