About the rec.games.diplomacy Search

Syntax:

The default search puts an "and" between all keywords in the regular text search field. For advanced searches, the default in the "author(s)" and "subject(s)" fields is an "or." (DejaNews does that, so don't ask us why.) These defaults can be overridden with the operators described below.
Quotes can be used to search for phrases instead of individual words
An asterisk is a wildcard
The boolean operators are "&" for "and," "&!" for "and not," "|" for "or."
The "near" operator is "^[number]", which looks for words within [number] characters of one another. Using just "^" gives a default distance of 5 characters.
Parentheses can be used with the logical and near operators for more complex searches.

Examples:

	searches for messages containing the words "new" and "game".
	searches for messages containing the phrase "new game".
	is similar to the first example, but the asterisk wildcard will match "game", "games", "gamers", "gametes", etc.
	searches for messages containing the words "new" or "game".
	searches for messages containing the words "new" and "game" within 10 characters of one another, and will therefore find "new chaos game", "new gunboat game", etc.
	searches for messages the words "new" and "game" but eliminates those containing the words "pure" or "chaos"
