French End of Game Statement
France was played by Eric Yarnell
I was astounded by Germany's play--at the outset we had a pat alliance but he so obnoxiously pushed against me (demanding, for example, that he get both lowlands and Denmark) that I had no choice but turn against him with England's help. I really liked the tension in the middle game when I could choose between Austria/Italy or Russia, and I managed to work with both for two full seasons. In the end I think Russia was conflicted about taking a solo vs. the 2-way as he "forgot" to vote for the first FR draw (though I think Austria surely voted against it--understandably). I was sorry to have to turn against Austria/Italy but I feel fairly certain they would have done the same thing in my shoes. I deeply regret Turkey's dropping out without a word (though for completely understandable reasons) as the game was drawing to a close as I think this abnormally weakened Austria/Italy and made it much easier for Russia and I to advance.
Anyhow, I hope Jeff and Mary will forgive me and thank you everyone for an interesting game.
