Event Calendar
What's on Seattle's Horizon as of 12/5/2006
WACcon 2007 is the Diplomacy Event that we hope will be one of the most satisfying events you attend this year.
As you may already know, WACcon is a bit different from most Diplomacy tournaments, Mark Zoffel and I try to make each year a special and unique experience. As such, many of your meals will be catered. The registration fee is $80 to be paid before the tournament begins to either Mark or myself. If youd like to send us a check early, thats just fine too. There will be five (5) rounds of diplomacy, but only three are required to make the Top Board, the winner of which will be the Champion of WACcon 2007.
The event runs from Thursday through Sunday, with one round Thursday, two rounds Friday and Saturday, and culminating in an awards ceremony on Sunday. This structure allows games to play to completion, rather than be artificially truncated. This means that all rounds will go on as long as they have to if the next round starts, all players that wish to will be seeded on their next boards, and will continue playing both games.
The scoring system will be available at a later date, but the rough details are as such: David Normans Sum of Squares system will be used with a small twist; we have added an ante component making it zero-sum.
The round structure will be as follows:
1/18 Thursday:
1/19 Friday:
1/20 Saturday:
1/21 Sunday:
Lodging can be had at either the WAC or at any of the other hotels in downtown Seattle. There are many right nearby. If youre looking for a budget saver, your best bet is likely the Sixth Ave Inn its the closest budget hotel to the site. If youd like to try and stay at the WAC, Mark can help set you up with a room, or may be able to put you on a couch in the Governors Suite. Please contact him for more details.
Please feel free to contact Nathan Barnes or Mark Zoffel with any questions.
Thanks very much for considering attending, hope to see you in January,
